from Sweden
This 19th century Swedish cabinet has beautiful geometric lines, indicative of the late 18th century and early 19th century. Moving away from frills and curves from the Rococo period (Louis XV) styles shifted to be less ornate, with more straight lines and neoclassical elements (Louis XVI). The Swedish adopted this style and instead of beautiful brown woods or light furniture with gold elements, the Swedish opted for less ostentatious elements and preferred a clean and crisp look. Since the winter months are harsh and dark in the north, the Swedish preferred painted furniture in whites, blue/greys, and ochres to brighten their homes to cherish every bit of light they got.
