An elevated black and gilt equestrian wastepaper basket inspired by traditional English sporting décor. The tapered metal form - an old English utility bucket - is decorated with a procession of horses rendered in gold against a rich black ground, framed by classical Greek key borders at the rim and base. Drawing inspiration from Georgian and Regency sporting engravings, the piece evokes the atmosphere of an English country estate library or hunting lodge. Dating to the late 20th century, it remains wonderfully versatile today as a wastebasket, cachepot, or decorative vessel in a study, office, mudroom, or living space.
