Rococo Style

Originating in 18th-century France during the reign of Louis XV, Rococo is defined by its lightness, elegance, and inspiration from nature. Characterized by flowing, asymmetrical forms, soft curves, and delicate ornamentation, the style marked a departure from the heavier designs of earlier periods. Signature elements include the graceful cabriole leg and motifs drawn from shells and foliage. The term “rococo” is thought to be a portmanteau of the French words rocaille and coquilles — “rock” and “shells” — organic motifs frequently used in architecture and design of the style. Designed with comfort and sociability in mind, Rococo furniture introduced a more relaxed, movable approach to interiors—an aesthetic that remains timeless for its romantic, sculptural beauty.
