Atelier Choux’s elaborate designs are inspired by architecture, nature and history. The inspiration for the “In Bloom” print comes from verdure tapestries of the French Renaissance period, particularly those from the 16th and 17th centuries, along with chinoiserie styles referenced in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Derived from the word ‘vert’ (green in French), the French verdure tapestries typically included forests, woodlands and rich foliage, along with exotic flowers and fruit trees. Deer, dogs and birds, were also often featured. With the brand’s signature twist, Atelier Choux’s, “In Bloom” print brings these historic art forms to the 21st century.

Atelier Choux carrés can be used as a light blanket, to change a baby’s diaper on the go, to create some shade or privacy (while breastfeeding for example), for swaddling, to wipe baby’s face, as a tummy time blanket, to protect your shoulder when holding the youngest petit choux, and more.

  • Printed with water based, baby safe inks. These water based inks are well integrated within Atelier Choux highly absorbent fabric and are ‘lock-in’ during an air-drying process, therefore there is no concern that prints will significantly lighten or disappear over time.

  • Machine wash with similar colors, on a normal or warm/hot cycle. Tumble dry on a low or delicate setting. Ironing is possible (but not at all necessary) at a low temperature.

The Finest Organic Cotton for your Child Skin

Atelier Choux carrés are made from certified organic cotton in order to ensure a product entirely free from chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic cotton fiber is also thicker, feels softer and is hypo-allergenic compared to conventional cotton fibers.

During manufacturing the thickness of the individual threads are optimized per Atelier Choux’s specifications to ensure both the softness and longevity of the fabric.

The result is a soft, absorbent and everyday essential that wears well – in accordance with our ambition to meld art, artisanship and everyday elegance.

 

The Story Behind Atelier Choux

Atelier Choux is a French lifestyle brand for families focused on interior design. Our “Maison” was founded in 2016 with a focus on babies and children, with products for adults and the entire family launching in 2021.

Our extensive offering covers bedding, textile accessories, wall décor (wallpaper, fabric wall-stickers), clothing and collectible gift boxes. Nearly all of our textile products are Made in France from GOTS certified organic cotton.

Atelier Choux’s instantly recognizable aesthetic is inspired by Hotel Particulier and Haussmannian buildings in Paris, with a hint of tongue-in-cheek humor. Elaborate architecture, simple charismatic animals, fanciful crests and hot air balloons are recurring themes.

With a passion for depicting building facades, Atelier Choux has now worked with several of the world’s most iconic hotels and landmarks on entirely bespoke collections, including the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, the Château de Versailles and the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

Atelier Choux’s founders are passionate about parenting in Paris and activities in Paris for families, based on their own experience. Our journal and Instagram page are full of inspirational imagery, tips and guides to engage parents and travelers alike.

Our Paris boutiques are located at 82 Rue de Grenelle in the 7th arrondissement and 3 Rue Hautefeuille in the 6th arrondissement. We are also proud to partner with several hundred fine department stores, luxury hotels, and boutiques across 30 countries.

Our Signature Carrés

Our multi-purpose carrés (swaddles or light blankets) are an elegant everyday essential, for both new and seasoned parents, at home in the nursery or out-and-about during the day. Carrés were our first product and represented our vision to create an everyday, elegant essential, one that is also perfect for gifting.

Carrés can be used as a light blanket, to change a baby’s diaper on the go, to create some shade or privacy while breastfeeding, for swaddling, as a tummy time blanket, to protect your shoulder when holding a young “petit chou” (French term for a small baby), and more. They also serve as a collectible piece of art, for the whole family to enjoy.

Our signature cotton weave (now used for our carrés and all our bedding) was developed specifically for Atelier Choux alongside an eco-certified factory in France, in order to create an ultra-soft, breathable and absorbable fabric that serves as the perfect backdrop to showcase our prints.

About Mattias Adolfsson

We are privileged to work with acclaimed Swedish illustrator Mattias Adolfsson who is recognized around the world for his whimsical landscapes, with more than 1 million fans across social networks. From his studio in Sigtuna across from Lake Mälaren that borders Stockholm, Mattias fills the pages of his Moleskine journals with kind robots, gentle animals and elaborate architecture, often in pastels and always with a touch of humor and fantasy. His book, the Second in Line, was awarded the Most beautiful Swedish book of the year in 2014. Mattias has worked with prestigious publications such as the New York Times, Wired and The New Yorker, along with Disney and Nickelodeon.

As design and illustration enthusiasts we had been following Mattias’ work for many years. When it came time to decorate our own son’s nursery we dreamed of having Mattias’ prints on bedding, our walls, clothing and more. The Atelier Choux aesthetic was born, with our visions of Mattias’ prints from floor to ceiling in our home rendering us giddy with excitement.

Our Quality Standards 

With all production in France, our processes are environmentally and socially conscious and conform to the highest European standards.

Our carrés are made in a family owned factory in France, one of the very few that has managed to remain competitive, due to its innovative approach and simultaneous respect for traditional techniques. About 250+ individuals are involved to some level in the production of Atelier Choux products, across fabric engineers, seamstresses and printing experts.

We start with GOTS certified organic cotton in order to ensure a base free from chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic cotton fiber is also thicker, feels softer (due to less chemical damage during growth) and hypo-allergenic compared to conventional cotton fibers. Organic cotton also consumes half the level water of water during production. Organic cotton fibers are also bleached with safe peroxide instead of chlorine bleach. Our cotton is safe for those who wear it but also for those who grow it.

Further down the production chain, our fabrics are tested with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I method that certifies the absence of harmful substances.

The cotton we use is certified GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) by Eco-Cert, which ensures the organic status of textiles from harvesting of the raw materials, through manufacturing responsible for a socially and environmental. This certification applies in our case to the spinning operations, sizing, weaving, tailoring, bleaching, washing, scraping and drying.

The inks we use are water-based and therefore are safe for babies.

Our packaging is manufactured in France and is 100% recyclable.
